What is Hiitch?
Hiitch is social networking software that allows you to create your own private community for almost anything. It provides you with an array of features that securely connect you from your desktop to the community.
What are the system requirements for running Hiitch?
Hiitch is designed to run with Microsoft Windows XP and Linux. Other available platforms like Windows 98, 2000, Unix or MAC OS have not been tested yet. We recommend the following minimum requirements:
- Microsoft Windows XP and Linux
- Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
- 1.5GHz processor
- 128MB of RAM
- 30MB Hard Drive Space
- Internet Connection (Broadband preferred)
Do I have to pay to use Hiitch?
Hiitch demo account is absolutely free. For those who wish to setup their own private network can sign up for a premium account.
How do I get Hiitch?
Simple, click here to download Hiitch. Install Hiitch and follow the on screen instruction to set up a demo account.
Is Hiitch Secure?
Hiitch is very secure, it employs a lot of security features such as encryption, digital signature verification, access keys and many more. This means you don't have to worry about issues such as wire tapping, phishing scams, privacy control, man in the middle attacks and etc. Hiitch is also 100% free from malware and spyware.
Does Hiitch support other languages?
Not at the moment but we are working to include support for Chinese and other languages in our future releases.
How do I ceate a Hiitch account?
After you have installed Hiitch, start Hiitch and click on the "Register for a new account" button to register for a Hiitch user account. Please fill in all the fields provided and click on "Submit" when you are done. Logged in with your account to proceed.
How do I edit my Hiitch account?
After you logged in to Hiitch, select "Tools > Edit My Account...", then proceed to change your account password and email address. Click on "Submit" when you are done.
How do I terminate my Hiitch account?
If you wish to terminate your Hiitch account, first logged to Hiitch, then select "Tools > Terminate My Account...", then proceed to fill in your account information. Click on "Confirm" when you are done. Terminating your account will permanently remove all of your profile information, pictures, testimonial and contacts from our server.
This process is irreversible. Even though you can re-register for a new account with your current logged in information, you cannot restore the deleted information from your previous account.
Can I create multiple accounts?
Yes, however we strongly discourage it. Creating multiple accounts will not only confuse yourself but also other users in the network.
I forgot my password, how do I retrieve it?
Before you logged in to Hiitch, click on "Forgot your password?" on the sign in page. Choose your password reset question and fill in your answer, click on "Submit" when you are done. If successful, Hiitch will supply you with your password.
If you wish to change your password, after logged in select "Tools > Edit My Account..." and proceed to change it.
Can I use my Hiitch account on another computer?
Yes, but please remember to remove your account information from the computer if you don't want other users to access your account. The procedure to remove them is to log out of your current active session and select "File > Clear Cache".
What is the storage capacity for demo account?
10MB.
Does Hiitch contain any malware or spyware?
No. Hiitch is 100% free from malware and spyware.
Does Hiitch contain advertisement?
Yes, Hiitch generate part of its revenue through advertisement sales. However, if you sign up for one of our premium accounts, no advertisements will be displayed on your network.
Can I block anonymous user from interacting with me?
Yes by selecting "File > Preferences... > Privacy" and check on "Do not allow anonymous user to send me message, files, flowers, request for appointment, etc."
When you block a user, they are not allowed to send messages, files or make any other interaction with you.
Can I block user in my contact list?
Yes, you can choose to block users in your contact list by clicking on their profile and selecting the block icon. If you block users in your contact list, they will be treated like blocked anonymous users.
To unblock user, go to "File > Preferences... > Privacy", select the user and click "Unblock" to remove them from the block list.
How do I set my privacy in Hiitch?
Select "File > Preferences... > Privacy", click on the checkbox of the information you wish to set private (information set to private can only be access by users in your contact list).
The default privacy setting allows everyone in Hiitch to view your personal information. However, if you wish to let only your contacts to view your profile, you can check all your privacy checkboxes.
What is the differences between my privacy settings and privacy status?
Your privacy setting controls who gets to access your personal information. Your status on the other hand communicates your online presence and intentions. Hence, when set to "Offline" will hide you from all the users in the network by making you appear as offline.
Setting to "Do not disturb" will prevent other users from messaging you but still allowing you to receive offline messages and items.
Setting to "Privacy/Invisible" allows your contact to see you as invisible, the rest of the users will see you as offline.
Are my activities such as chat and file transfer in Hiitch safe and secure?
Yes. Hiitch uses SSL to encrypt your personal information, messages and file transfer to ensure that all your online activities in Hiitch are safe and secure.
I keep getting spam messages, what can I do to prevent it?
If you keep getting spam messages from the same user, we suggest you block him/her. If the spam messages are random, you can choose to block all anonymous user by selecting "File > Preferences... > Privacy" and check on "Do not allow anonymous user to send me message, files, flowers or request for appointment."
After you have blocked the spammer, proceed to report him/her to us and we will remove the spammer from our network. To report a spammer select "Help > Report Illegal Activities and Spam".
How do I add a contact?
Select "Actions > Add a Contact...", then enter the Hiitch ID or the username you are adding and click "Add" to confirm your request.
After your request has been sent out, Hiitch will generate a notification to inform the user that you wished to be added into his/her list. You will only be added into his/her contact list after he/she authorised your request.
You are only allow access the user's private information after he/she has added you into his/her contact list. Without the user's authorisation, you will be treated as an anonymous user even if his/her name appears in your contact list.
How do I remove a contact?
Right-click on the user in your contact list that you want to delete and select "Delete Contact" to remove him/her from your list.
How many contacts can I add?
200 for your demo account.
What is group?
Group allows you to organise and arrange your contacts into categories. You can create, rename and delete groups (except for the default "General").
To move a contact between groups, you can drag and drop the contact or right-click on the user in your contact list and select "Move Contact to > Group Name"
How many groups can I have?
You can create any number of new groups.
What is the difference between my contact and bookmark?
The users in your contact list are people whom you have authorised to share your personal information. They are considered to be more personal than those in your bookmark. Some features such as writing testimonials and emails are only available to user in your contact list.
Your bookmark on the other hand is used to conveniently access the user's profile card or as a tool to mark them as people of special interest.
Can I block user in my contact list?
Yes, you can choose to block users in your contact list by clicking on their profile and selecting the block icon. If you block users in your contact list, they will be treated like blocked anonymous user.
To unblock user, go to "File > Preferences... > Privacy", select the user and click "Unblock" to remove them from the block list.
What is interactivity level?
Hiitch has incorporated the ability for you to monitor the interaction you share with other fellow members. The interactivity level is the red and green icon located at the top-right corner of each of your contact.
It will display from 5 different states, ranging from super to poor depending on how often you interact with that user. It is a smart way to manage your relationship with other user in your contact.
What is quick messaging?
Quick messaging allows you to send messages to any user in the absence of a chat dialog. It is a great way to leave your friend a note without going into a long and draggy conversation.
Quick messaging is part of the contact interface. To use it, simply type a message into the user's quick messaging box in your contact list and click on the send button. That message will appear in the quick messaging box on the other user's contact list.
What is Hiitch alert?
Hiitch Alert is a hassle free way to get your social activities come to you. Unlike web based social sites, you don't have to spend time monitoring messages, testimonials and friends. Hiitch will alert you on just about anything that is happening in your social circle. You no longer have to check your emails for updates, all your alerts happen right on your desktop, real time.
Under what situation will Hiitch alert me?
Hiitch will alert you when there is:
- A profile matched
- An event matched
- An item received such as file, flower or testimonial
- A request for online appointment
- A contact that comes online
- Your contact made a posting in the community
Can I configure my alert settings?
Yes, you can go to "File > Preferences..." and check on the items you want to be notify. Click "Ok" after you have confirmed on the settings.
Hiitch will alert you of all the events in the network by default. If you want Hiitch to stop alerting you, uncheck all the alert checkboxes in your preferences dialog.
What is Profile Matching?
Profile Matching is a smart way of meeting new people without having to go look for them. Our system will monitor and search the database for users that closely matches the type of person you are looking for. If a match is found, Hiitch will send out an alert to notify you.
What is Event Matching?
Event Matching allows you to discover upcoming events and activities in your area. Hiitch will monitor your profile and delivers to you information that matches your interests. If a match is found, Hiitch will send out an alert to notify you. You can constantly fine tune your match to improve the system matching capability.
Where are my profile match stored? Where can I view them?
All your profile match are stored on our server. They will be deleted away when you log out from the network.
You can access all your profile match in the "Alerts" page under "Profile Matched".
Where are my events match stored? Where can I view them?
All your events match are stored on our server. Unlike profile match, the events stays on our server even if you logged out from our network. They are removed only if you choose to delete them or when they expires.
You can access all your events match in the "Alerts" page under "Autosuggestion".
Where are my appointments stored? Where can I view them?
All your appointments are stored on our server. Unlike profile match, your appointments stays on our server even if you logged out from our network. They are removed only if you choose to delete them or when they expires.
You can access your appointments in the "Alerts" page under "Appointments".
Where are my items received stored? Where can I view them?
All your items received are stored on our server. Unlike profile match, your items received stays on our server even if you logged out from our network. They are removed only if you choose to delete them.

What is broadcast alert?
Broadcast alert is a notification send to inform everyone in your contact that you have made a posting in the community. When you make a posting in the community, you are given an option to broadcast your posting to all your contacts. Broadcasting is a good way to keep everyone involved in what you have to say or do.
What is Hiitch community?
Hiitch community is a public area for you to participate in events, topic discussion, gallery posting and many more. It is a place to meet new people who share your interests.
What is live board?
Live board lets you make postings and engage in topic discussion with other members in the network.
Can I create a new topic in live board? How do I do it?
Yes, anyone in Hiitch is allowed to start a new topic in live board. To create a new topic, click on the "New Topic" icon. Choose a category to post and enter your message. You can set your topic to public or private.
Can I remove the topic that I have created in live board?
Yes. To remove the topic you have created, go to "My Board" in your profile card. Choose the topic your want to remove, right-click and select "Delete Topic" or click on the delete topic icon.
How do I reply to a topic in live board?
Click on the topic of your interest to access the creator's profile card. Under "My Board", click on the reply icon to post a reply to the corresponding message.
Can I reply to a topic set to private in live board?
No, unless you are listed in the creator's contact. Topic set to private is open to the creator's contact for response only.
What is the difference between public topic and private topic?
Topic set to public is open to everyone in Hiitch. Private topic is only open to the creator's contacts.
Can I inform my contacts when I have made a posting to the community?
Yes, you can choose to alert all your contacts when you create a new topic in the community. To notify your contacts, check on the "Alert Contacts" checkboxes on the "Create a New Topic" dialog.
